My First Award

A good friend of mine challenged me with this assignment. I can always count on her to give me a good challenge. Everyone needs a friend like this!

5 things I am passionate about...

1. Spiritual Growth

I tend to be somewhat of a perfectionist. I also want to be the perfect Christian, have the perfect prayer life and be the perfect example but I know that's not possible. So, instead of giving up and saying "I quit" because I'm not praying like I should be or because I messed up here or there I am passionate about being the best Christian I can be and learning daily.

2. Family

God has blessed me with a husband who has made me a better person. He is laid back, kind, hard working and an amazing father. He will go out of his way to help a friend or stranger. I am also blessed to have two wonderful children. Cooper is an active, kind hearted and loveable three year old. Cate is a determined, compassionate and funny 19 month old. Though they are different in many ways, the love they have for each other is so sweet. I am also blessed to have my mom, dad, sister, future brother in law, grandma, grandpa, mamaw, mother in law, father in law, brothers & sisters in laws, cousins and many aunts and uncles who are an active part of my life. My family is pretty tight knit and there is anything we wouldn't do for one another.

3. Food

This could be a bad thing if I was passionate about french fries, burgers and nachos but I am passionate about learning as much as I can about food. For example, the kind of food that goes into my body. More importantly, the food that I serve to my husband and kids. Don't get me wrong, I love me some junk food but there is a time and place for that. I am always looking for new recipes that challenge me. I used to be scared to try anything new or slightly difficult because I was afraid of failure but that has changed. I love cooking from scratch and providing more variety for my family. I am very close minded when it comes to food and I don't want to pass this on to my kids. I want them to know how to eat and to enjoy eating the foods that are good for them.

4. Learning

I love saying "Hmm. I learned something new today!". Whether it be something trivial or something big. I recently took a cake decorating class and for anyone that doesn't know, I used to be known for being somewhat of a goof in the kitchen. I once put a basket casserole holder in the oven not aware of the fact that it could catch on fire. I also put foil in the microwave. The list goes on but I'll save what respect I have left and stop. That class was so much fun and I really learned some cool things! I have started messing around with my sewing machine and even made a simple dress for Cate but I want to get better. I also want to learn how to play the piano again. I don't enjoy reading books but give me lessons, a magazine or computer and I will soak up as much as my lil' brain will allow.

5. Cleaning

Yuck, right? Well, not for me. I caught myself last Saturday in my sweater, skinny jeans, boots and of course accessories on the kitchen floor scrubbing my cabinets because the way the sunlight was shining hit the cabinets just right so that I noticed my cabinets needed a good scrubbing! Yes, at times I get very frustrated with myself because I cannot let the dust just sit so I can enjoy some time to myself or I choose to sweep really fast instead of reading a book to my kids. I am getting better about letting some of the cleaning just sit so I can enjoy the precious time with my husband and kids but it's still a struggle at times. Wierdly enough, I find cleaning therapeutic and I love the smell of a clean house.

Now, for the business of awarding:

1. Put the logo on your blog.

2. Write 5 things you are passionate about apart from blogging, because we all know this thing can consume you.

3. Pass it on to 5 other people.

I want to pass this on to:

Lane, Amber, Valerie, Mandy, Christi

Have fun!
