Cook Childrens
My poor sweet Cate had her first and hopefully last trip to the ER on Wednesday. She had been fighting a pretty bad cold and cough but it started to get ugly on Wednesday. She had rapid breathing, fever and would barely eat anything (something HAD to be wrong for Cate to miss a meal). So, I called the nurse to ask if I could give her tylenol along with the other medication she was taking. The nurse didn't even respond to my question after she learned about all of the symptoms she was having. She strongly suggested we take her to the ER. So, off we go to Cook Childrens. I have never been to the ER but I would hope that what we saw was not the norm. The room was packed! I didn't think I would be able to find a seat. After two hours (we were moved up on the list too) we finally were called back. The ER doctor saw her 40 minutes later and diagnosed her with RSV/bronchiolitis. She received a breathing treatment and after about another hour, we thought we would be able to go home. Wrong. They wanted us to stay for at least 24 hours so they could continue to monitor her oxygen levels. We didn't go prepared to stay that long but with the help of family and friends, it all worked out. We had to stay in the ER a lot longer than we should have because there were no rooms available in the hospital. Once we got our own room, it was much more comfortable. Even Cate seemed to notice the difference. I wouldn't have survived this experience without all the help from family and friends! It was very comforting knowing we had all the support we needed. We are home now and doing much better! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!!

Coughing and Sneezing and Fever, Oh My!
This past week was full of coughs, runny noses and fever. Most by me but unfortunately both of my babies got a little of it too. I want to share a little story that made me laugh and wonder if we have a future actor on our hands. On Friday we had just finished up with lunch. He got up and went over to the kitchen where he sat on a stool and proclaimed in such a sad and pitiful voice "I sad". Of course I immediately asked him to clarify, "What? You're sad?!" He comes back with, "Yeah...Joseph (boy from his school) hit Cooper. I sad." Then he cups his little hands over his face and begins to pretend cry. He gives the whimper and everything. Then I see his little eyes peek out between his fingers and give me this shy little smile. It was almost like he was saying "Do you like my performance??!" He then jumps up and shouts "I'M HAPPY!" Then he went off to play with cars. That boy makes me laugh so much!

She was really concentrating on her toy!
Now onto Cate. My sweet girl turned 6 months old! That meant a visit to the pediatrician for her measurements and shots. My little chunk weighs 18.4 oz and is 27 3/4" long! I have to brag on my tough little girl. She got four shots in her legs and didn't even blink. The nurse informed me that she was going to cry on the last two because most kids do but not Cate. I was pretty much in tears but it definitely helps that Cate seemed to be more upset that she wasn't able to sit up rather than upset that she was a human pin cushion! Cooper was the same way so I guess they get their pain tolerance from me!
Despite not feeling well, I had to have some 6 month pics of Cate. Aunt Mandy came willing and ready to snap away! Here's a sneak peek!!

Well, here goes. My one and only New Years Resolution is to start and maintain this blog. I don't think I've set a resolution I won't be able to keep. I love writing down the special memories and events that happen in our lives. I also want to keep family and friends updated on our always fun and busy lives. Now that we have two kids, this is even more true!
